Introduction

The Zhenjiang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (hereinafter referred to as the Association) is an independent, non-governmental organization. The objectives of the Association are: to promote friendship, understanding and goodwill between the peoples from Zhenjiang and cities of other nations; to facilitate exchange and cooperation in such fields as economy, science & technology, culture, education, public health, and sports; and to safeguard world peace.

Constitution of The Zhenjiang People's Association
for Friendship with Foreign Countries

Article ¢ñ. General Principles
Section 1. The Zhenjiang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (hereinafter referred to as the Association) is an independent, non-governmental organization.
Section 2. The objectives of the Association shall be as follows:
1) To promote friendship, understanding and goodwill between the peoples from Zhenjiang and cities of other nations
2) To promote friendly relations with other countries
3) To facilitate exchange and cooperation in such fields as economy, science & technology, culture, and education
4) To safeguard world peace
Section3. Membership of the Association shall be granted as a unit (as an organization, department, division, section, etc).

Article ¢ò. Mission
Section4. To participate in cultural exchanges with non-governmental organizations, friendly groups, and individuals in foreign countries
Section5. To sponsor, co-sponsor, and participate in various commemorative cultural activities and celebrations.
Section6. To organize various types of conferences, exhibitions and investment seminars, thus contributing to the economic development of the city.
Section7. To safeguard world peace under the foreign policy of China.
Section8. To actively attract and recruit various talents from foreign countries, and to delegate liaison-work to appropriate departments and enterprises to encourage and facilitate student exchange programs.
Section9. To provide resources to organizations in Zhenjiang in their exchanges with foreign countries in order to promote cooperation in economics, science, technology, arts & culture, education, and athletics.
Section10. To actively participate in the activities sponsored by The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and The Jiangsu People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries
Section 11. To assist the delegations that travel overseas and coordinate the invitations to foreigners to visit China.

Article ¢ó. Executive Council
Section 12. Zhenjiang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries shall exercise the supreme power of the Association. The term of the Association¡¯s Executive Council members shall be five years.
Section13. The Association¡¯s Executive Council shall have the following powers and responsibilities:
1£©To examine the Association¡¯s work reports
2£©To draw up and amend the Association¡¯s constitution
3£©To organize the Association¡¯s guiding principles and tasks
4£©To elect an honorary president
5£©To elect a president, a vice-president and a general secretary
Section14. The Association¡¯s Executive Council shall hold Executive Council meetings annually. When the Executive Council is in adjournment, the standing committee, which consists of president, vice president and general secretary shall hold discussions and make decisions. The standing committee, if necessary, shall call Executive Council meetings. The Association shall have the required administrative departments

Article ¢ô. Subordinate associations
Section15. People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries shall be established in each city that is under the jurisdiction of Zhenjiang
Section16. People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries established in the city under the jurisdiction of Zhenjiang shall be at the county level.
Section17. Every People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries shall be subject to the general supervision and control of the ones of the higher level.

Article ¢õ. Finance
Section18. The Association¡¯s funds are from;
1£©Local or foreign contributions
2£©Revenues from the activities and services hosted by the Association
3£©Subsidies from the government

Article ¢ö Amendments
Section19. Zhenjiang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is located in the city of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province
Section20. This constitution shall take effect after the approval by Executive Council meeting.
